Her work focuses on themes including the concept of beauty, societal aesthetic norms, and the subconscious juxtaposition of everyday life. Newman infuses her innate creativity and passion to provide an alternative perspective and give life to that which is not appreciated.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
“To me, true beauty lies in difference. I find beauty in that which is unseen and mundane to others. My work reflects a different perspective utilizing a multitude of mediums, colors, and textures. Thirty years ago when I decided to transition my career from Communication Specialist at Texas A&M to make-up artist and business manager for a million dollar cosmetic giant, I was so excited to be able to use my artistry to empower women and help them find beauty unique to them in a world that sets unrealistic expectations and is fueled by sales and the superficial those brand standards developed by marketers. I believed using my years of art education and creativity had found a purpose. I realized as I progressed in my career, this purpose was lost in the high expectations, business management, and minutia of what was once my dream job with a purpose to use my art. I discovered with a corporate restructuring of my executive position I had lost my anonymity, my voice. The most defining moment was when my boss expressed, ‘you are no longer allowed to be creative. Your new position is to enforce policy and be the face of the brand. You should never be on their (my makeup artists') level’. It was at that moment that I knew I was "no longer a fit" and had become the antithesis of myself. For almost 3 years later, I remained with the parent corporation in a remote, online capacity as one of only 12 other online communication specialists for 29 websites world-wide. During this time, I began my own "Renaissance", studying at the Art League, Houston Center for Photography, and other various educational opportunities available, while continuing to volunteer at the MD Anderson Art Space for patients and caregivers. In my process and evolving self-awareness, I discovered I used Instagram as platform to express my creativity the entire extent of my career. I consider myself a creator and my art, the result. Creating art is a catharsis and personal education to me, as I have never lost the need to understand why. My intention with my work is to communicate obscure, unrealized beauty that evokes thought and awareness, in all capacities. In addition, I employ various elements, symbolism, and archetypes in every detail from directional composition of the subjects to the color palette, to the number of leaves on a flower. I believe everything has a purpose and art is the universal language which conveys this ideal.
